FIELD: biotechnology, genetic engineering. SUBSTANCE: DNA fragment rhtB encodes synthesis of protein RhtB that provides the enhanced resistance of bacterium Escherichia coli to L-homoserine. Based on multicopied plasmid pRhtB containing this fragment strains Escherichia coli showing the enhanced production of L-amino acids as compared with strains no containing plasmid pRhtB are constructed. Amino acids are obtained by culturing the corresponding strains on suitable nutrient media followed by isolation and purification of the end amino acid.
