FIELD: instruments for consumer goods manufacturing, in particular, measuring bent characteristics of textiles. SUBSTANCE: method involves preparation and marking of article, its fixation, measuring distance A between corners of lowermost edge of article. Article is shaped as cone frustum which element length is 400 mm and length of minor arc is 200 mm with 1 mm tolerance. Marks are provided for measurement of linear size in different directions, for examples, at angles of 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75 degrees with respect to longitudinal direction. Article is fixed in clamp along minor arc to provide natural draping. Then method involves measuring distances along marked lines and judging anisotropy of variation in linear dimension of material. Repeated measurements of distance A and linear dimension of article in different directions provide data for kinetics of DRAPEABILITY and variation in linear dimension. EFFECT: natural conditions of manufacturing and usage of wear, reliable and extended description of bent characteristics of textiles. 6 dwg, 2 tbl
