FIELD: methods for tests and measurements, in particular, methods for determination of characteristics of textile materials in bending, applicable in light industry and in the sphere of everyday services. SUBSTANCE: specimen under test is placed on a foot platform, pressed by a weight to the fixed part of the foot platform, the flexures of the specimen ends are measured after lowering of the movable part of the foot platform and separation of the specimen from it, and the rigidity is calculated according to the relative sag and mass. A specimen in the form of a "daisy", whose petals, measuring 30x70 mm, have different directions typical for the cut of the clothes is taken for the test, and the rigidity is determined by a formula, in which the mass of five standard specimens is expressed through the surface density of material where B - rigidity of textile materials, μN·cm2; Ms - mass of 1 sq.m - surface density of material, g/sq.m; A - function of relative flexure. The directions of petals correspond to 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 to 345 deg. to the longitudinal direction of material.
