FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly restoration of rolling rolls of mills for hot and cold rolling damaged in the result of sticking bearing assembly to roll journal. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of turning damaged surface layer by depth 15-60 mm along the whole length of contact of roll journal with bearing assembly; preliminarily heating roll barrel up to 130+-30 C; then locally heating roll journal up to 400+-10 C and fusing wear resistant layer into turning; after fusion heating roll journal up to 450+-20 C, sustaining that temperature for 10-12 h; cooling roll and its journal at rate 30-50 C/h and mechanically working roll journal. Temperature of end portions of roll barrel should not be more than 180 C during all operations.
