FIELD: metal continuous casting, more specifically, designs of submersible casting tubes for supply of steel melt to mold with long and short sides, in particular, for casting of thin flat castings. SUBSTANCE: external wall of submersible casting tube in zone of long walls facing the long side of mold is of shape which irrespective of depth of submersion of casting tube into melt located in continuous casting mold has approximately constant distance (d) from long sides of mold. In addition, external wall of submersible casting tube has in zones of short sides shaped members rendering minimal resistance to continuous flow of melt of steel and foundry powder floating in it. EFFECT: simplified design, reduced kinetic energy of liquid steel in zone between submerged section of submersible tube into melt and long sides of mold, rendered influence within preset limits on formation of flow of liquid steel found in mold in zone of bath surface. 12 cl, 3 dwg
