FIELD: continuous casting of thin ingots with profiled cross section. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of feeding metal to melt at least through one immersible nozzle. Nozzle is immersed into melt with gaps immersing nozzle into melt at forming gaps outer surface of immersible nozzle and inner surface mold walls (STI). At level of controlled heel of melt metal at least over portion of immersible nozzle sustaining next relation between gap width and rate of cooling walls of mold in place of formed gap: [STI/(SII/2)]/[LTI/LII], where STI - width of gap formed by inner surface of mold walls; LTI and LII - cooling rate values of mold wall zones forming respective gap or gap portion. EFFECT: reduced cracking of envelope of cast billet, uniform crystalline structure along the whole cross section of billet. 8 cl, 2 dwg
