INSTRUMENT FOR SEPARATION AND STORAGE OF EXHALED AIR SAMPLE, METHOD OF SAMPLING Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

Abstract RU 2122195 C1

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: instrument has body which forms internal space. Body has two ends, first and second holes in ends and internal channel. Instrument body is fitted with first shut-off device for instrument transition from "open" to "closed" state and for opening and closing of first hole, respectively. Instrument is provided with second shut- off device mounted on its body for instrument transition from "open" to "closed" state and for opening and closing of second hole, respectively. One of ends of body is made for introduction of air flow exhaled by patient into channel. Shut-off devices are installed so that they may be set to "open" position during introduction of exhaled air flow and to "closed" position when taken off sample is stored. In other variant of instrument design use is made of inlet hole for passing of exhaled air into internal space through first hole and for removal of air from internal space through second hole. Instrument has valve arrangement for shutting-off of both holes and storage of sample taken off exhaled air flow in internal space of instrument . It also has place for sampling. Method of sampling includes the following operations. Exhaled air flow is directed through instrument internal space for sampling. Exhaled air flow passed into internal space through first hole on one side of internal space and leaves internal space through second hole positioned on opposite side of internal space. Both holes are shut off in order to interrupt exhaled air flow and to take sample off flow passing through internal space. Instrument is capable of air flow preservation in internal space and is provided with place for selective sampling. EFFECT: provision for sampling from upper respiratory tracts and bronchi. 21 cl, 11 dwg
