VERTICAL ROLLING STAND Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: rolling equipment, namely means for changing rolls of vertical stands of rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: vertical stand includes closed type housing with upper and lower windows. Chocks of vertical rolls are mounted in windows of housing with possibility of moving one relative to another. Reduction gear of roll drive unit is mounted onto separate supports secured to foundation. Housing is mounted on guiding beams with possibility of motion along them in direction normal relative to rolling direction by means of hydraulic cylinders. Holders of upper joint assemblies of universal spindles rest upon bosses of low-speed gear wheels through disc supports. Gear wheels are hollow and spindle shafts are arranged inside them. Lower joint assemblies of spindles are fixed onto spindle shafts in axial direction. Cross-like pieces of upper joint assemblies have holes for passing spindle shafts through them. Mechanisms for lifting spindle shafts with lower joint assemblies are mounted on cover of reduction gear. Diameter of pinions of drive reduction gear is more than that of lower joint assembly. Stand has locking device for fixing it in working position. EFFECT: simplified process of roll changing in rolling mill with closed type housing. 5 dwg
