FIELD: railway transport; mechanical engineering; repair of deflective and wornout of same profile. SUBSTANCE: article is installed on device consisting of two semibushings whose diameter is made for enclosing the cones of expansion mechanism, and outer diameter corresponds to diameter of inner surface of axle box housing. It has inserts whose thickness is chosen depending on value of deformation of housing inner diameter caused by surfacing. Semibushing and inserts are installed between inner surface of housing and expansion mechanism symmetrically relative to vertical axis of article. After surfacing of wornout surfaces and their cooling, together with device, to ambient temperature, compensating beads are applied to outer surface of axle box housing in places of maximum deformation of inner diameter, and mechanical machining to drawing dimensions is carried out. EFFECT: elimination of defects in axle boxes of rail cars by restoring dimensions of wornout surfaces of axle box housings. 4 cl, 1 tbl, 3 dwg
