FIELD: mechanical engineering; induction method of reconditioning and strengthening of parts of rolling stock. SUBSTANCE: embedded members are used for protection and reconditioning of large-size articles. Mated surfaces of article are prepared for embedded members by machining. Embedded members proper are made to correspond to predicted values of wear in form of flat inserts of different shape and thickness from 4 to 5 mm, depending on constructional dimensions of mated parts operating under conditions of friction. Members are made of low alloy steels. Inserts at side of movable contacts are surfaced with wear-resistant layer, 1 -2 mm thick. with hardness of 320-400 HB. Inner surface of insert is welded to article. EFFECT: provision of reliable protection of large-size articles, 5-fold reduction of machining cost, increased service life of reconditioned articles. 4 dwg
