FIELD: chemical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to structures of fixed-bed catalytic gas-phase reactors with wide application area. Apparatus with fixed bed of inert and catalytically active materials consists of reactor and circulation chamber enabling multiple variation of direction of feeding reaction mixture onto catalyst bed. Circulation chamber represents casing divided by means of elastic member into two cavities, one of them being connected to inlet connecting pipe and the other to outlet one. Division member is connected over a rod to linear-displacement electric drive providing reciprocation of division member and thereby displacement of reaction mixture from one cavity of circulation chamber into the other. Reciprocation of division member may as well be provided by agency of hydraulic fluid displaced by piston of hydraulic cylinder. Reaction mixture transformation cycles are repeated until maximum degree of conversion is attained. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency due to utilization of recuperated reaction heat and reduced emission of unreacted gases. 3 cl, 1 dwg
