FIELD: metallurgy of nonferrous metals, in particular, methods of producing alloys of aluminum with rare-earth metals. SUBSTANCE: method includes melting and holding in contact with liquid aluminum of mixture containing potassium chloride, sodium and aluminum fluorides and scandium oxide. Prior to melting, mixture is heated to melting point of potassium chloride and then it is cooled to below this point, for instance, to room temperature. Offered i also the method of production of scandium-aluminum alloying composition including melting and holding in contact with liquid aluminum of mixture potassium chloride sodium and aluminum fluorides, and scandium oxide. Mixture additionally contains solid metal aluminum, and prior to mixture melting, it is heated to above melting point of potassium chloride and then it is cooled to below this point, for instance, to room temperature. In this case mixture contains solid metal aluminum in the form of chips, powder, granules.
