FIELD: determination of level of different substances in reservoirs irrespective of their electrophysical parameters. SUBSTANCE: to determine level of substance, electromagnetic oscillations are excited in long line section positioned vertically in reservoir containing the substance being checked, and inherent frequencies of electromagnetic oscillations of long line section are measured. In addition, electromagnetic pulse signals are excited in long line section. Signals reflected from lower end of long line section are received, and total time of forward and backward propagation of pulse signals is measured. This time is taken into consideration in joint functional processing of measured inherent frequency of electromagnetic oscillations of long line section and time of pulse signal propagation in it.
