FIELD: study and analysis of materials with use of reflected X-ray or gamma radiation, automatic check of granulometric characteristics of lump materials moved in technological flow. SUBSTANCE: increased accuracy is achieved thanks to usage of dispersion of measured intensity of radiation reflected from surface of lump material in the capacity of measure of proportion of lumps in lump material exceeding predetermined size. Essence of method lies in multiple measurement of intensity of radiation reflected backwards in the course of definite time, in computation of dispersion of measured intensity and in determination of proportion of predetermined size by calibration graph of dependence of proportion on dispersion.
