PLANT FOR PREPARATION OF FLOCCULANT Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: purification of potable and sewage waters and process equipment for preparation of liquid chemical reagent of flocculant for coagulation of sludge particles in water. SUBSTANCE: plant comprises process vessels. Loading vessel includes shell, turning cover with sealing spacer and bottom welded to shell. Compressed air is supplied through cover in which also installed are check valve and reading pressure gage. Slotted dies are mounted on bottom with the help of thread. Loading vessel is located inside the vessel of reactor so that bottom with dies is installed below the reactor upper level. In this case, plane of upper paddle of reactor mixer may be tangent to end faces of dies with a gap within 0-3 mm. Internal hollow of loading vessel is filled uniformly with powder of initial flocculant and wetted with water to obtain jelly-like pasty mass. Cover is closed tightly and reactor mixer is started. Supplied to loading vessel is air at pressure of 0.1 MPa. Excessive pressure in vessel displaces initial flocculant directly to reactor in the form of continuous film with thickness up to 0.5 mm, according to size of die slot. Rotating upper paddle of reactor mixer breaks the film into disperse particles which are dissolved in water of reactor in the course of mixing. EFFECT: multipurpose design allowing use of all types of initial flocculant, higher quality of dispersing and prompt preparation of flocculant solution. 2 dwg
