DEVICE FOR FORMING EDGE ON CYLINDRICAL SHELL Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; production of containers from semirigid polymeric films on transfer lines. SUBSTANCE: device has lifting table with alignment ring. Upsetting device with pattern working surface has punch consisting of two parts (upper movable part provided with hydraulic cylinder connected with part through rod and lower part engaging with shell end face) and die. lower part of punch is made movable in form of sectors connected, through pushers and springs, with cam furnished with step turning drive. Die is made in form of solid ring. Advantages of proposed device are: making of edge of thin walled shell with bending the edge inwards, provision of cylindricity of shell, rigidly of end faces and possibility of mechanization of container production process as a whole and packing of product into container (particularly, more quick and reliable fitting of bottom and cover onto shell).
