FIELD: treatment of depleted uranium mixtures, in particular, method of recovery of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride from depleted uranium hexafluoride. SUBSTANCE: method consists in reaction of depleted gaseous uranium hexafluoride with water in gaseous state to produce uranyl fluoride and mixture of hydrogen fluoride and water; reaction of uranyl fluoride and water in gaseous state to produce triuranium octooxide; combining the mixtures from the first and second reactions of hydrogen fluoride and water to produce water, hydrogen fluoride and oxygen, then they are separated to obtain free of water flow including hydrogen fluoride and oxygen. Hydrogen fluoride may be obtained by separation from flow of oxygen.
