FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to metal structures and basically to crane-runway girders in production shops of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. Strengthened crane-runway girder has three-head cross-sectionally arched rail resting on crane-runway girder proper through tubular shock-absorber. High-strength friction studs combine strengthening members and crane-runway girder into integral assembly. Three-head rail and shock-absorber perform together additional function of strengthening members. In realization of method, three-head rail is introduced together with shock-absorber into crane-runway at one end of production shop, and simultaneously pulled out from crane-runway with additional pressure-forcing at other end of production shop is worn-out link of crane-runway. This worn-out rail link is promptly shortened. EFFECT: prolonged service life and high load-bearing capacity of crane-runway girder being strengthened. 4 cl, 3 dwg
