FIELD: gas industry. SUBSTANCE: method particularly relates to construction and repair of gas transportation pipelines. According to method, gas pipeline to be purged is hermetically sealed, and gas is delivered into this pipeline for purging by gas, or air is delivered into this pipeline in case of purging by air. Delivering pressure is determined by following expression:

, where Pg - gas pressure, kg/sq.cm and Pa - air pressure, kg/sq.cm, η - normal permissible content of gas in gas-air mixture in percents which ensures safe operation of gas pipeline. Gas pipeline is put into operation only after complete mixing of gas-air mixture inside pipeline over its entire length.
