METHOD OF DIAGNOSING DISTENTION OF ARTICULATIONS OF VESSELS OF CEREBRAL ARTERIAL RING Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: neurology. SUBSTANCE: method is concerned with diagnostics of pathologicoanatomic material providing reliability and accuracy in diagnosing distention of articulations of cerebral arterial ring vessels and also systematization of features in distinct steps of pathological process. When performing microscopic and morphometric examination of microscopic sections of articulations, one measures width of articulation on section, stains section with picrofuchsin, and observes structure of collagen fibers; stains section with fuchseline and observes alterations in internal elastic membrane; and then, using specific reaction and Hail method, estimates condition of structures of vascular wall in the articulation region. When width of articulation greater than 250 mcm is revealed in combination with straightened collagen fibers, ruptures of internal elastic membrane, dystrophic alterations in articulation components, and appearance of inflammatory cellular infiltration, acute phase of distention of vascular articulation is diagnosed. When focal muscular-elastic hyperplasias in distended articulation zone are revealed, subacute phase is diagnosed; whereas scarry tissue in this zone is indicative of chronic phase of disease.
