FIELD: rolled stock production, possibly in mills for cold rolling of steel sheets. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of grinding rolls and forming roughness of surfaces of their barrels. In order to increase strength of roll surface and to enhance quality of rolled steel sheets, roll barrel roughness is formed by combined rotation in stand of mutually abutting rolls at compression effort (0.8-1.2)t/mm. Rotation is realized until achieving 3-5103 revolution numbers at simultaneously feeding cooling lubricant to rolls. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 1 tb, 1 ex
