FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes supply of metal to mold, pulling ingot from mold with variable speed, holding and directing of ingot along the production axis with the help of drive and idler rollers grouped in roller sections; straightening of ingot on plant production axis from radial to horizontal position, and adjustment and verification of position of plant production axis. Length of section of production axis, where ingot is straightened, is established variable according to the following relationship L=K.H.S.C/V.R.Mn, where L is length of section of plant production axis where ingot is straightened, m; H is ingot thickness, mm; S is average content of sulfur in steel, %; C is average content of carbon in steel, %; Mn is average content of manganese in steel, %; V is speed of ingot pulling from mold, m/min; R is radius of radial section of plant by ingot face distant from curvature center, m; K is imperical coefficient taking into account physico-mechanical regularities of deformation of straightening of ingot of different chemical composition equalling 18-1800 m3/mm.% min. Length of section of production axis, where ingot is straightened, is changed by means of installation of spacers to under supports of respective rollers of roller sections. EFFECT: increased productivity of metal continuous casting plant, simplified process of adjustment and verification of position of production axis, improved quality of continuously cast ingots from crack-susceptible steel grades, reduced quantity of required reserve roller sections of various type-sizes. 2 cl, 1 tbl
