FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: bast fiber is pretreated with aqueous laundry soap solution and terpentine and then cooked in low-alkalinity solution. Solution may contain soda ash and wetting agent. Subsequent bleaching is carried out with intermediate washings and followed by acid wash.
