FIELD: vehicle testing. SUBSTANCE: vehicle is brought up to specified speed, is brought to mode of free run-out under which path and time of travel of vehicle are measured. Then vehicle is transferred to ode of free fall. Speed, overload and time are measured during both modes by transmitters mounted on vehicle. Speed, path and time of travel of vehicle are measured simultaneously by outside facilities. Force of air head resistance is found after joint processing of measurement results. Device employed to realize this method has supporting platform mounted on guides for vertical movement. Supporting platform is fitted with position pickup and frame made fast to guides above supporting platform linked to it by means of rigid destructible ties. EFFECT: increased precision of determination of force of air head resistance due to most complete reproduction of effect of aerodynamic forces on vehicle. 2 cl, 2 dwg
