FIELD: electrical engineering, manufacturing of melt fire-proof materials, metallurgy, in particular, converters of electric power to heat using electric-arc discharge. SUBSTANCE: terminals of control windings 8 are connected to secondary windings of transformer 10 through thyristor-controlled rectifier 11. In this magnetic control flow is directed to only one side in opposite to cross magnetic field of series windings 7. In addition control electrodes of thyristors of rectifier 11 are connected to output of synchronous pulse-phase device 12, which input is connected to terminals of reactor electrodes 2 through control assembly which has voltage setter and transition unit 14. Control windings 8 may be designed as part of coils of series windings 7. Both windings 7 in this case are connected to arc current circuit only from side of one of electrodes 2. Diode is inserted between windings 7. EFFECT: increased efficiency of reactor due to increased stability of electric-arc discharge. 2 cl, 5 dwg
