METHOD OF PREPARING BASE OF PARAFFINED PAPER Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: wood-pulp and paper industry, in particular, preparation of base of paraffined paper for external wrapping of confectionery on automatic machines. SUBSTANCE: method includes milling of cellulose, sheet formation and drying on paper-making machine. Bleached sulfate coniferous cellulose is milled in disk mills with concentration of paper-making stock of 2.5-4.0 wt. % to free value of 25-45 Schopper-Riegler degrees and weight value of mean length of fiber of 80-120 dg. Paper-making stock is poured on wire of paper-making machine with concentration of 0.25-0.50 wt.%, and paper drying is accomplished by slow-drying schedule at temperature of surfaces of the first two cylinders of 30-50 C and that of surfaces of two last cylinders of 80-40 C. In this case, maximum temperature of surfaces of drying cylinders in the middle part of drier does not exceed 105 C. Then, paper calendering is additionally carried out to obtain smoothness of upper side of paper at least of 300 s, density of at least 0.8 g/cu.cm with moisture content in finished paper of at least 7 wt.%. EFFECT: improved quality of base of paraffined paper due to higher mechanical strength and improved printing properties, increased paper density and smoothness due to calendering and improved flexibility and marketable properties of paraffined paper packages and labels. 1 tbl
