FIELD: metallurgy; may be used in electromagnetic agitation of liquid metals and alloys in mixers, furnaces, ladles, ingots and castings of any configuration. SUBSTANCE: stator allows generation of travelling electromagnetic fields simultaneously directed, for instance, either in two perpendicular axes, or in opposite directions, or in circle that in total produce resultant electromagnetic field of complex trajectory. Stator may have cylindrical or flat magnetic circuits. In flat magnetic surface, fringe effects are evidently manifested to produce strong pulsing electromagnetic fields promoting higher efficiency of electromagnetic agitation of liquid metals.
