FIELD: metallurgy, specifically, technology of continuous casting of metals under electromagnetic action on liquid phase of cast billets. SUBSTANCE: under action of source of traveling electromagnetic field directed along helix trajectory around billet there is created movement of molten metal along spiral downwards or upwards depending on direction of traveling magnetic field. EFFECT: effective destruction of dendrite bridges in lower part of billet, increased convective heat transfer from liquid phase, provision for homogeneity of billet in chemical composition, enhanced speed of movement of billet. 2 cl, 1 dwg
