FIELD: metallurgy, namely continuous casting of metals at electromagnetic action upon liquid phase.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus for electromagnetic agitation of melt in horizontal and vertical planes includes magnetic circuit in the form of ferromagnetic portion of mold with multiphase winding. At each upper and lower sides of mold two coils are arranged; said coils are arranged concentrically and they are connected to different phases. Two coils arranged at different sides of mold symmetrically relative to axis of ingot are connected mutually opposite to one phase. Two other coils are connected to other phase in accordance. At one side of mold coils may be placed in such a way that to embrace one another or one over another.
EFFECT: enhanced power and operational characteristics of apparatus.
