FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: according to method, bore-holes are drilled in rock of mine field sections being investigated. These sections are chosen according to known geological characteristics. Determined are specific properties of emitting gases using smell sensing instrumentation. Made up is base of smells of mine gases which characterize traces of chemical elements contained in them. Then, artificial outburst is initiated by means of shaking explosion. If outburst takes place, earlier detected smells are considered as extreme. In further investigation of zones of geological disturbance by means of drilling, actual smells are compared with standard base of extreme values. If they are identical or exceed extreme values, rock mass in given zone is related to outburst-risky. Application of aforesaid method improves safety of mining operations. EFFECT: higher efficiency.
