FIELD: sanitary and hygienic articles. SUBSTANCE: toothbrush has bristle carrying member pivotally attached on one end of handle. Bristle carrying member is adapted for effectuating limited reciprocating motions relative to handle longitudinal axis. At least one row of bristles is immovably attached to bristle carrying member and other rows of bristles are attached for rotation about at least one parallel longitudinal axis of handle. Limited reciprocating motions of bristle carrying member are combined with periodical limited lateral motions of rotating bristle rows. EFFECT: increased efficiency in cleaning teeth and simplified construction. 17 cl, 6 dwg
