FIELD: ship handling; determination of ship's inertial characteristics taking into account particular conditions of navigation, loading of ship and technical state of her hull, propeller and engine. SUBSTANCE: method consists in measurement of cyclic feed of fuel and rotational speed of engine shaft. Engine torque is determined as their function. The differential equation of engine operation is solved simultaneously with differential equation o ship's motion.
