FIELD: navigation.

SUBSTANCE: method for monitoring and ensuring the safety of storm navigation of a vessel relates to the field of maritime navigation when receiving a forecast of storm conditions along the route. The proposed method is implemented by obtaining the motion spectrum of a vessel at a predicted wave and is implemented during the following stages: recording the motion of a moving vessel with obtaining wave parameters and bringing it to the actual wave spectrum; processing the motion recording to obtain the motion spectrum; obtaining the amplitude-frequency response (AFR) of roll; obtaining a wave forecast along the route and the true spectrum of the forecast waves; conversion of true frequencies of the wave spectrum into apparent ones, taking into account the parameters of the vessel’s movement; obtaining a predictive spectrum of roll using the obtained AFR of roll; determination of the maximum rolling amplitudes from the obtained predictive rolling spectrum and their comparison with the permissible amplitudes for a given vessel; making a decision about the permissibility of movement with accepted parameters or the need to change movement parameters to safe ones.

EFFECT: expanding the scope of navigational methods for assessing the impact of storm conditions on a vessel and methods for preventing dangerous roll during storm navigation.
