FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: to obtain modified aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum alloys are treated with silicon carbide added in quantity 0.2-1.0% based on weight of melt, treatment time being 15-25 min. Coefficient of linear expansion of aluminum-silicon alloys is reduced by 3-12% and density by 1-2%. EFFECT: modified characteristics. 1 tbl
