FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves charging burden into electric arc furnace; melting; oxidizing; skimming oxidizing slag; introducing oxide manganese-bearing materials, ferrosilicon, and lime, with manganese ore as oxide manganese-bearing material being added in an amount of 10-40.1 kg/t of steel; upon melting of manganese ore, feeding coke fines onto slag surface in an amount of 8-16% by weight of manganese ore; introducing ferrosilicon after 10-20 min holding period, with following adding of lime in an amount sufficient for producing of slag with alkalinity of 1.5-1.8. EFFECT: reduced consumption of ferrosilicon, wider range of steels melted with complete replacement of manganese ferric alloys by direct alloying from oxide manganese-bearing materials. 1 tbl, 1 ex
