FIELD: metallurgy, applicable in production of high alloys used in manufacture of articles by casting and plastic working. SUBSTANCE: method consists in treatment of melt of aluminum or Al-Si alloys with mixture containing calcium carbonate. In this case, mixture additionally contains magnesium carbonate with equal weight ratio of calcium and magnesium carbonates in mixture. Mixture is introduced into melt in amount of 1- 7 wt.% and melt is treated for 3-15 min. EFFECT: higher technological and physical properties of modified aluminum and its alloys. 1 tbl
