UNIT FOR NEAR-VERTICAL LAYING OF PIPE LINE IN COASTAL ZONE Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: erection of sea pipe lines. SUBSTANCE: tower rests on bearing frame and movable platform on water craft at angle necessary for laying the pipe line. Tower is provided with pulley block which may move between open and closed positions for receiving sections of pipes and holding mass of pipe or pipe line. Pulley block is designed for lengthwise motion along tower for hoisting or lowering the pipe line. Platform which is movable between open and closed positions for receiving section of pipe and holding the mass of pipe line is located at base of tower and is used for transfer of mass of pipe line pulley block to platform excluding necessity of opening the pulley block. Inboard block with adjustable grips is used for gripping the section of pipe from racks of pipes ready for welding and transferring this section to tower for splicing the pipe line. Inboard block is directed to tower and is raised by means of rails. Stringer running from lower end of tower is provided with grips for holding the pipe line during operation. Main part of stringer is turnable upward adjoining water craft when jobs are discontinued. EFFECT: facilitated erection of pipeline; enhanced safety of operation. 17 cl, 12 dwg
