CENTRIFUGAL REACTION IMPELLER Russian patent published in 1999 - IPC

FIELD: apparatuses of non positive-displacement type such as centrifugal pumps for pumping liquid, turbine plants. SUBSTANCE: impeller includes two discs between which annular land with closed discharging ducts is secured. Impeller is mounted on shaft and has in central portion opening for working fluid. Cavity is formed by inner surface of land. Discharging ducts are arranged along axial components normal relative to radius of impeller and they are oriented in direction opposite to impeller rotation sign. Generatrix the most spaced from impeller center is arranged along line tangential to inner circle of annular land whose height is equal to diameter of discharging duct and width is equal to two diameters of said duct. Radius of free cavity of wheel is equal at least to two diameters of inlet opening for working fluid. EFFECT: reduced mechanical friction losses, enhanced efficiency of impeller. 2 dwg
