FIELD: artificial diamonds. SUBSTANCE: 1.25-4 cu.dm of aqueous solution containing 0.1-0.8 g/cu. dm vanadium pentoxide, 0.25-3 g/cu.dm potassium hydroxide, and 1-10 g/cu.dm potassium nitrate is added to 1 kg of synthetic diamond-graphite-oxide mixture. Resulting slurry is agitated and dried at 60 to 100 C to free-running state. Material is then thermally treated in electrical oven for 3 h at 300-600-300 C, treated with alkali, for example, with 20% KOH, washed with water, and finely with acid, for example, with 20% HCl. EFFECT: improved environmental condition, essentially reduced vanadium consumption, and increased yield of diamond. 4 cl, 4 ex
