FIELD: mechanical engineering; designing of small-size air-cooled internal combustion engines for agriculture and transport. SUBSTANCE: air-cooled internal combustion engine has at least one cylinder and cylinder head with cooling ribs, fan with guide hood and two deflectors arranged at both sides of cylinder and head in parallel with axis of engine crankshaft. Each deflector of head and cylinder is made in form of semicylindrical surface forming together a closed circuit whose diameter is calculated by formula d= (1.1-1.3)D where d is diameter of joint closed cylindrical circuit and D is diameter of cylinder. Axis of cylindrical closed circuit is arranged in parallel with crankshaft axis and is displaced from cylinder and head division plane towards head through distance H=(0.2-0.4)D where H is distance from axis of closed cylindrical circuit to cylinder and head division plane, and D is diameter of cylinder. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of engine by provision of uniform effective cooling of hot zones and engine as a whole, reduced power consumption for cooling. 3 dwg
