FIELD: optical instrumentation, design of light-controlled liquid-crystal spatial-time light modulators for systems for input and processing of optical information, for instance, holography and interresonator reading of images. SUBSTANCE: modulator presents multilayer system composed of film of polymer photoconductor and layer of pneumatic liquid crystal. Special orienting coat is employed to orient molecules of liquid crystal. Supply voltage in the form of rectangular pulses of alternating polarity and pulse recording mode are suggested for functioning of given device. Improved speed of action of modulator that is required condition for its employment in high-speed information processing systems made it feasible to increase frequency of cycle recording-reading " by factor of 25.
