FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: optical coating is a thin-film coating based on carbon nanotubes with value of non-uniformity at the nanometer level. A CO2 laser is used to deposit the carbon nanotubes onto the substrate. An electric field with strength of 50-250 V/cm is used to align the carbon nanotubes during deposition.
EFFECT: higher optical transmission in the UV, visible and infrared range, higher mechanical and laser damage resistance, reduced rougheness of the surface of the optical coating and optical elements, levelling of the boundary interface of phases.
