FIELD: logging of hole drilled in rocks carrying gaseous hydrocarbon. SUBSTANCE: method includes stages of generation of recording of nuclear magnetic resonance by use of reconstruction time that is equal or more than period of longitudinal relaxation of gaseous hydrocarbon and determination of distribution of periods of lateral relaxation from recordings of nuclear magnetic resonance which include periods of lateral relaxation attributed to gaseous hydrocarbon. After this size of one pocket of underground formation as minimum and volume of it occupied by gaseous hydrocarbon are evaluated without knowledge of characteristics of rock of underground formation. EFFECT: improved authenticity of method. 9 cl, 19 dwg
