FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, regulation of process of continuous rolling of bar metal in groups of roughing stands. SUBSTANCE: process of continuous rolling is carried out with minimal tension or end push in interstand intervals. Level of tension is indicated by motor current, and tension is regulated by acting on speed of rear stand. Method is distinguished by additional compensation for dynamic sagging of drive of front stand of interstand interval by means of leading increase of its speed before catching of metal by this stand. In addition, operating conditions of proportional-and-floating controller is regulated in the course of control depending on position of ends of billet that makes it possible to minimize effect of external zones. Method provides adaptation to regulating system to varying process conditions of rolling. EFFECT: higher yield of product and reduced stand downtime. 5 dwg
