FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method includes smelting of finely divided iron-containing raw material in melting-gasifying zone of melting-gasifying apparatus with supply of carbon-containing raw material and oxygen-containing gas with simultaneous generation of reducing gas in layer formed by solid carbon carriers. Melting-gasifying apparatus located in neighborhood of reducing gas discharge pipeline is equipped with pipeline for supply of finely divided coal such as coal dust and/or other carbon-containing substances including volatile part, and pipeline supplying oxygen-containing gas. Finely divided coal and/or other carbon-containing substances including volatile part, when introduced into melting-gasifying apparatus enter into reaction to be converted into finely divided coke which is withdrawn together with reducing gas withdrawn from melting-gasifying apparatus and separated in separating device. Formed in melting-gasifying apparatus in upper part of its dome is high-temperature zone of combustion and/or gasification due to supply of separated coke and oxygen. Finely divided iron-containing raw material is directly introduced into high-temperature zone. Iron-containing raw material is subjected to surface fusing and sintering in zone of combustion and/or gasification. Realization of the invention allows treatment of finely divided ore in the amount up to 100% and reliable prevention of ore losses. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 24 cl, 1 dwg
