FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of feeding ore and flux to reduction zone, reducing ore to sponge metal and then melting it together with fluxes in melting-gasifying zone at supplying carriers of carbon and oxygen-containing gas. Simultaneously technologic gas containing CO and H2 is generated in said zone. technological gas serves as reducing gas and it is fed to reduction zone for reacting and then it is removed. Slag-forming fluxes such as calcium carbonate, dolomite and others are calcined with the aid of technological gas in calcination zone which is separated from reduction zone and melting-gasifying zone. In order to use slag-forming fluxes with any desired size of grain without undesired influence upon reduction process, calcination zone is arranged technologically in parallel with reduction zone and melting-gasifying zone relative to motion direction of raw material. Calcined fluxes are fed directly to melting-gasifying apparatus. Plant for performing the method includes calcining apparatus joined with melting-gasifying apparatus by means of supply pipeline. EFFECT: possibility of using slag-forming additives with any size of grain in relatively simple equipment. 15 cl, 12 dwg
