FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: in direct reduction of material containing iron oxide in form of particles in fluidized bed, reformed gas purified, at least, partially from CO2, in capacity of reducing gas is brought to reducing zone with fluidized bed and withdrawn from bed in form of top gas. The latter is used, at least, partially in mixture with reformed gas for direct reduction. For the purpose of means saving, in units operating with reducing gas, and for saving of expenditures for heating, at least, 50-100% of reformed gas and from 0 to 100% of top gas are purified from, at least, partially from CH4 and N2 by adsorption, in addition to carbon dioxide gas. Effluent gas separated from reformed or top gas by adsorption is used as fuel gas. EFFECT: reduced power of adsorption device of varying pressure and reduced expenditures for heating with invariable or increased production efficiency. 14 cl, 2 dwg, 3 tbl
