FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves steam conversion of natural gas and obtained conversion gas is mixed with direct-reduction blast furnace gas and entered into reduction zone with fluidized bed as reduction gas. Blast furnace gas and conversion gas, when mixed, are washed to remove carbon dioxide, the proportion of gases to be mixed being such as to provide hydrogen content in the range 45-75% (better 50-65%) and that of carbon monoxide 10-20%. During the conversion process, steam to natural gas ratio is maintained 2.5-3.5 and content of methane in reduction gas 8-35%. Direct reduction process is carried out in several (e.g. four) reactors with fluidized bed. Reactors are interconnected through opposite reloading units and reduction gas pipelines. Reactor being the last in reduction gas downstream direction is provided with pipelines connected with oxygen and natural gas sources. To each reactor except the first one, fresh reduction gas pipelines are connected. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process. 11 cl, 1 dwg
