FIELD: construction engineering. SUBSTANCE: this relates to design of ring highways of large cities - megapolices such as Moscow with suburbs. According to invention, ring highway has optimal number of artificial structures per 1 km of its length. Bridges, overpasses across railways must be in number of at least 0.2 unit/km. Number of bridges is not less than 45% of total number of bridges and overpasses across railways and is equal to 0.06-0.10 unit/km. Large bridges over 100 m long take 30% of total number of bridges. Medium bridges of less than 100-m length take 40% of total number of bridges, and 30% come to small bridges which are no longer than 25 m. Total length of large bridges exceeds total length of medium and small bridges by at least 3.17 times and their overall length is equal to 1.0-1.1 km. Carriage way part of ring highway at least in approaches to large bridges is divided into two independent branches with each of them intended for one-way traffic with five-lanes for vehicles. One of branches adjoins existing bridge which is reconstructed, and other branch adjoins newly built bridge. Reconstruction operations are undertaken without interruption of normal traffic flow. Ring highway has optimal number of required artificial structures per 1 km of its length with five traffic lanes in each direction. At least one bridge is reconstructed for one-way traffic. New bridge is built close to existing one for other direction of traffic, and traffic is transferred to it from bridge which is subject to reconstruction. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 25 cl, 61 dwg
