FIELD: erection of pipe lines; oil producing and chemical industries; sanitation and other industries for connecting steel pipes. SUBSTANCE: method includes making pipe end in form of nipple and connecting member in form of mating bell mouth followed by press-fitting nipple into bell mouth of connecting member. Prior to press-fitting the nipple, surfaces of bell mouth and outer surface of nipple are tinned with alloy. Then joint is heated to melting point of alloy. Besides that, outer surfaces of pipes and connecting members are coated with insulation; in this case, heating is timed to applying insulation. Proposed method makes it possible to make permanent joints of steel of equal strength with protected inner surfaces. EFFECT: increased service life of pipe lines transporting aggressive media; increased productivity by 30 to 35%; minimum consumption of manual labor. 2 cl, 1 dwg
